The 10-issue Avengers: No Road Home limited series from Jim Zub, Al Ewing and Mark Waid is over and gave us the death of the Olympian gods,
the reintroduction of Conan and new paths for Hercules and Vision. The last
issue even ended in of all places suburban Long Island. Things went meta at the
end with the introduction of the House of Ideas, which was Zub’s idea at the
first meeting planning out the project. And the art was quirky and had heroes
coming from everywhere. In the end the Olympian Gods were reborn but now based
in space where Hercules goes looking for them. Vision ended up finding religion
at the end of the story, something that has been building since the creation of
the character. What happens with him is undetermined but Ewing has big, evolving
plans for Hercules but he isn’t saying where that story will take place. The
three left Voyager back at her now destroyed home with her uncle missing. That
thread was left open so it looks like a third weekly book is in the future. |
