 Barry Allen hasn’t been at his best and so Joshua Williamson
decided to take him back in time in for a new version of his origin story called
Year One. The arc is being drawn by Howard Porter and tells of his first foe the
Turtle. Williamson knew he was going to tell this story someday but had so many
other stories in mind that it took a while to get to this point. The arc is also
introducing some of the Rogues but at this point they aren’t quite the Rogues
yet. Williamson wants to use the arc to show that getting Barry’s powers didn’t
make him this optimistic person but brings back that aspect of him that went
away when his mother died. We already know the story Williamson is telling but
he will play with what we know and tweak it a little. The new character
Steadfast, who has the powers of the Still Force told Barry that he had
forgotten something important and so he sent Barry’s mind back in time. There is
a reason why this happens but that tale will be told at a later time. |
