The
idea of HBO’s Watchmen was for it to be a self-contained event series. That
would make it a one and done project but the same was said for Big Little Lies.
So there was hope for a second season but show runner Damon Lindelof told EW
that he understood that there could be a second season but he wasn’t likely to
be the guy doing it. Then HBO suggested that they wanted another season and was
waiting for Lindelof to make up his mind since they only want him to make it.
But Lindelof told USA Today he was done and gave his blessing for HBO to find
someone else. So we accepted that we would never see season two then Lindelof
told Deadline, “I never wanna close the door completely because if two, three
years from now I say, ‘I just had another idea,’ it will be that much harder to
open. But I would say it’s barely ajar. I think that there are no current plans
to make any more Watchmen. If the idea comes, I would be enthusiastic about it.
The idea may not come from me. I would be super excited about it coming from
someone else. So my position hasn’t changed.” So time will tell.
