 Gwen Stacy has never gotten a solo spotlight series until
now with the current limited series Gwen Stacy from Christos Gage and Todd Nauck. The
limited series looks at Gwen's life before she met Spider-Man. Gage got the
job when he was asked by Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe. Given that fans already
know her fate Gage talked with Lowe and Dan Slott then the story hit him-we know
very little about Gwen's life before her first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man
#31. So he came up with a story that would reveal just how George Stacy injured
his leg and how and why he retired from the police force. When the series begins
we see that Gwen is attending Standard High, where Harry Osborn also goes. And
while she attends Standard she will get insight into her father’s job and learn
about police procedure. It’s from this that she gets involved in a case against
the Crime Master and as the series progresses we will see Green Goblin/Norman
Osborn, the Enforcers, Jean DeWolff, Yuri Watanabe, Frederick Foswell, J. Jonah
Jameson and some surprises. Continuity wise the story takes place around Amazing
Spider-Man #25 to #27.
