The 15th annual Black List has
been released and Ken Kobayashi’s romantic script Move On made the top of the
list for best un-produced screenplays with 29 votes. The script follows Teddy, a
man who thinks he is the only living person left in a world since humanity is
frozen in time. But things change when his ex-girlfriend, Leyna, shows up at his
door and the two try to figure out why humanity is frozen. The second place
winner with 20 votes was Field of View by Reiss Clauson-Wolf and Julian Silver,
the story of a soldier forced to relive her worst day in combat via a VR
simulation over and over again. But in one simulation the program doesn’t match
her memory of the failed mission so she tries to figure out why. The third place
winner actually lucked out when Tron’s Olivia Wilde decided to direct Don’t
Worry Darling for New Line. The film has been described as a psychological
thriller about a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to slowly crack revealing
something very disturbing underneath. Fourth, fifth and sixth place all got 16
votes each. One is The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent which would have
Nicolas Cage to play an exaggerated version of him (ok that I want to see);
Austin Everett’s time jump drama The Traveler and Lillian Yu’s hacker drama
Cicada. The final script on the list also lucked out and it’s Colin Bannon’s
female mountain climbing drama First Ascent, which will be made by Netflix.
Previous films on the infamous list include: Bird Box, I Tonya, Roman J. Israel,
Esq., The Post, Queen and Slim and Late Night. The upcoming Ryan Reynolds film
Free Guy was also once on the list.
