When
it was announced that the next two Mission Impossible films were going to shoot
back to back fans figured we has a nice long wait until we saw Edge of Tomorrow
2 but director Doug Liman has revealed that we were wrong. The sequel to the Tom
Cruise 2014 sci-fi film which was given the dumb ass subtitle of Live, Die,
Repeat may be out by 2021. In the film Cruise played a military PR man who got
stuck in a time loop in the middle of an alien invasion. Every time he died he
would start the day over and he died a lot since he had no combat experience. He
after a long time enlists the help from a war hero Rita (Emily Blunt) who thinks
he’s insane for believing he dies over and over again. In March Warner Bros.
Pictures brought in writer Matthew Robinson to develop the script. A green light
was expected and we would see Cruise, Blunt and Doug Liman return. In a talk
with ComicBook.com Liman confirmed that the script is ready and production would
begin as soon as shooting Mission Impossible 7 & 8 are done. Liman also talked
about him walking away from both Justice League Dark and Gambit. He told the
site, "It’s always about the script. Getting a great script is so hard,
especially for an action script because – and especially for the movies I want
to make – I want to be completely original and yet still be commercially
satisfying and usually the commercially satisfying ideas are things that people
have seen before, like if someone already discovered that and that’s why it
shows up in movie after movie."
