In a 90
minute panel at San Diego Marvel Studios announced Phase 4 which will go through
the end of 2021. The film schedule is: Black Widow (5/1/2020), the Eternals
(11/6/2020 with GOT’s Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree
Henry, Lia McHugh, Don Lee. Lauren Ridoff and Kumail Nanjiani), Shang-Chi and
the Legend of the Ten Rings (2/12/2010 with Simu Liu, Awkafina and Tony Leung as
the Mandarin), Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (5/7/2021 with
Benedict Cumberbach, Benedict Wong and Elizabeth Olse, The villain is Nightmare)
and Thor: Love and Thunder (11/5/2021 with Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and
Natalie Portman as the Mighty Thor). The TV shows announced for Disney+ are:
Falcon and the Winter Soldier (fall 2020 with Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and
Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo). WandaVision (spring 2021 with Elizabeth Olsen, Paul
Bettany and Teyonah Parris as the adult Monica Rambeau) Loki (with Tom
Hiddleston and will follow the Loki seen in Endgame), the animated What If…?
(with Jeffrey Wright as the voices of the Watcher) and Hawkeye (fall 2021 with
Jeremy Renner and co-starring the Kate Bishop character). The TV shows will have
a direct tie in with the movies. And at the end of the panel Kevin Feige dropped
the bomb that Luke Cage’s Mahershala Ali is the new Blade. Ali like Liu actively
campaigned for the roles. When Ali was announced there was some mild confusion
by some who believed the Blade film was part of Phase 4; it isn’t; its part of
Phase 5. There was no official announcement yet on what Phase 5 would involve
but Feige has hinted that Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians of
the Galaxy Vol. 3 along with a Fantastic Four film and an X-Men film are part of
it. He also said we will see another Avengers film with a completely different
team and that Phase 5 will lead into a major crossover event. At this point
Panther 2 is being outlined and planned by Ryan Coogler but there is no truth to
the rumor that Michael B Jordan will return as Killmonger. James Gunn is still
working on The Suicide Squad and there has been no info on Captain Marvel 2 but
the directors are planning on returning. While Feige was doing the press tour
after the con he said he would love to use characters seen on the Netflix shows
but that isn’t possible until 2021. Disney will reveal more information on
Marvel Studios and Marvel Animation at their D23 Expo on 8/23-24.
