Jane
Foster is now the new Valkyrie. All of the other ones died during War of the
Realms and now Jane had to be the one to escort the souls of the valiant to the
afterlife. The ongoing Valkyrie: Jane Foster from Jason Aaron, Al Ewing and CAFU
will show Jane trying to work while having a secret identity; help souls get to
the afterlife and have her face off against the villains of the Marvel Universe.
Aaron had left Jane no longer the Mighty Thor but still battling cancer. The
death of the Valkyries inspired Jane to pick up their mantle. Ewing wasn’t
planning on adding to his workload but when he was asked if he wanted to work on
the book he jumped in. Everyone she helps get to the afterlife will not be going
to Valhalla but to other places as well. Jane will find it hard to keep her role
as a hero secret since she is still a working doctor and in the first issue we
saw her get bumped down to working in the morgue in the hospital. So she has to
deal with that along with Bullseye running around with a magic sword killing
people. As for Jane’s power set she is bonded to the All-Weapon. The weapon can
become whatever Jane needs it to be which includes giving her wings. It’s also
the key to Valhalla. The supporting cast for the book will include the previous
Valkyrie, Brunnhilde and Brunnhilde's other half, Annabelle Riggs, but will be
composed of all new characters and a cool ass horse. And according to the
writers the book will visit realms of the living and the dead and head to the
very edge of all time, space and existence in the Marvel Universe and beyond.
