Millar-verse Series Puts Butch & Sundance in Space as Gender Swapped Women

Mark Millar's next Millarworld project is Space Bandits (on sale now), which has art from Black Science’s Matteo Scalera. The lead characters in the series are a couple of criminals named Thena Khole and Cody Blue, who are looking for some intergalactic payback. Millar says the series was inspired by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid but in this case the leads are female. And making them females ripped off by males was a nice change of pace. Millar then added a change up by mixing elements from the sci-fi world of the 70’s and the music video styles of the 80’s. Scalera was brought in after he did a Sharkey the Bounty Hunter cover because his art fit the project perfectly. It also helped that he was done with Black Science and hadn’t signed on to do anything else yet since he and Millar had been talking about working together off and on over the last five years. In the series the two female leads are hooked up with a guy named Viggo Lust, who is playing the Katherine Ross part in the story but with a horrible fashion sense.
