Duggan and Mike Deodato’s Savage Avengers has revealed that the Hand, ancient
cults, and a plot to wake up an alien god are tied into Kulan Gath. In order to
make this happen he needs the blood of the Marvel Universe's most dangerous
warriors to complete his plan and so Punisher, Wolverine, and Dr. Voodoo have
all been brought together along with the now present day based Conan the
Barbarian. Future issues will introduce Elektra, who was seen in the back up
story in the Avengers Free Comic Book Day book. Duggan says she hasn’t been
brought in yet because she was working to figure out why the Hand is kidnapping
live people but hints she has been in the book all along. We will learn why Gath
is looking for the type of people he is looking for in #5 and understand the
actual scope of his plan. As for the roster of the series Conan will be in every
issue but the series will add and subtract characters along the way depending on
the story. Duggan promises that Venom will pop up at the end of the first arc
and be a major part of the series moving forward. Readers will also be
introduced to the Third Eye of Agomotto and so a few sorcerers from the Marvel
Universe will pop up. The end of the first arc of Savage Avengers will be the
last Marvel job from Mike Deodato who is going into creator owned work.
