Restructured Divisions and Personnel Lay Offs in Wake of Poor Sales

DC laid off seven employees as part of a restructuring designed to put a greater focus on publishing. The company will reorganize into three areas focusing on Editorial, Production & Manufacturing and the newly-formed Publishing Support Services. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the layoffs include Senior Vice President of Sales Trade Marketing John Cunningham, Vice President of Consumer Marketing Eddie Scannell and Senior Vice President of Art Direction Mark Chiarello. The layoffs will account for three percent of DC's workforce of 240 people. With the changes Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras will oversee Editorial; Senior Vice President of Manufacturing & Operations Alison Gill remains in charge of Production & Manufacturing; and Senior Vice President of Editorial Strategy & Administration Hank Kanalz will handle sales, marketing and promotion for Publishing Support Services under the title Senior Vice President Publishing Strategy & Support Services. Warner Bros. Consumer Products will be restructured as well with DC Collectibles moving under the control of the division and a layoff of 10 percent of their staff. President of Warner Bros. Global Brands and Experiences Pam Lifford is now in control of DC.
