TRYING AGAIN WITH THUNDERBOLT
Posted: 012019

Getting a Stripped Down, Ret-conned Run From the Wicked & Divine Team

Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt, is in weird position. He is more known as the direct inspiration for a character in Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s Watchmen in the form of Ozymandias than as a character in his own right. He has had some solo series but none have caught on. Dynamite Entertainment is trying again with a five-issue limited series from Wicked & Divine’s Kieron Gillen and Caspar Wijngaard. Gillen will ignore everything save for the origin so the DC run never happened. He will use the series to show what makes him different from everybody else. Peter Cannon doesn’t even have an interest in being a superhero. He’s been given these ancient scrolls not because he deserves it but because of his parents did something to help the monks’ years ago. So he has to be tricked into saving people by his companion, Tabu. And if this sometimes makes Peter unlikable Gillen is fine with that.

It all begins with PETER CANNON THUNDERBOLT #1 of 5 which ships with two standard covers and is currently scheduled to arrive on New Comic Wednesday-013019 with a $3.99 cover price. As always it will be Alternate Reality "1st Day Sale"  priced at 25% OFF ($2.99!) on the 30th and 15% OFF for the rest of its first week of release ($3.39!) while supplies last!
