UFC
President Dana White isn’t a fan of the planned end of the Chuck Liddell vs.
Tito Ortiz trilogy fight set for November. Both fighters will end their
retirement to finish their feud on 11/24 from The Forum in Inglewood,
California. The PPV fight is the first MMA fight promoted under the Golden Boy
MMA banner. When asked about the fight White told reporters, “Of course I am
upset. I don’t think it’s any secret how I feel about Chuck Liddell personally,
and professionally. I don’t want to crap on his deal that he’s got going on and
I hope that he makes a lot of money. I hope the event is very successful for
them. But I wish it wasn’t happening.” Liddell and Ortiz fought each other at
UFC 47 in April 2004 and at UFC 66 in December 2006. Liddell won both fights but
fans watching the second fight knew Chuck was declining as a fighter. After the
fight Liddell lost five of six fights so White talked Chuck to retire. He ended
up working in the front office but when UFC was sold he was let go. White
managed both Liddell and Ortiz but his relationship with Ortiz turned toxic.
White hopes at least Chuck makes a lot of money from the fight. |
