COMICBOOKMAN SEZ: Couple of disparate items to cover this week. None of them are really connected to each other or deserve a lot a space but all important to your day to day lives. Not really, but I do what I can to grab your attention.

This Wednesday is one of our more esoteric sales here at the store-Alignment Day. It's not that hard to understand but I always feel like I'm overcomplicating it with the telling, so here goes:

1) The 20th of every month is "FOUNDERS DAY" at the store and on that day everything is 20% OFF except Bulk Supplies and that week's new shipping.

2) New Comics come out every Wednesday and they are always 15% OFF for everyone.

3) This Wednesday (New Comic Day) is the 20th. We didn't pick it, the calendar did.

4) Since New Comic Wednesday and Founders Day have "Aligned" together, this Wednesday is Alignment Day. Because it is a special day (the calendar only pulls one of these "Wednesday the 20th" once or twice a year) we're throwing this Wednesdays new releases into the Founders Day 20% OFF mix.

So show up Wednesday and get 20% OFF on all this week's shipping as well as everything else (except Bulk Supplies), and get 40% OFF all seven of this week's "1st Day Sale" books, too. Show me another brick and mortar store that's saving you that kind of money this week!

If you don't play Magic the Gathering you may want to skip this one. If you do play, then you are aware that MODERN MASTERS 2015 ships this Friday (052215). It's a severely allocated product, it's also one of those items that's fallen into the cracks between Free Comic Book Day, Previews Orders and a couple of dozen other events I've had over the last month. Anyway I've gotten a lot of calls wanting to know if I was taking discounted pre-orders a-la every other Magic release over the last few years. So bowing to pressure Friday I got the sell sheet up on the website, Facebook and HERE. Needless to say, (so I'm saying it) there is a very short window for ordering-Wednesday at 7:30pm is your deadline. Also, because of the short window, it is being offered at 10-15% BELOW the current E-Bay pricing, for anyone who want to take advantage of it. Monday May 25th is Memorial Day and for the first time in almost a decade we will be open for the holiday. We have observed this Monday holiday for years, but this year we are breaking with that tradition and running with Holiday Hours for the day (10:00AM to 4:00PM). It will be mentioned again in next week's newsletter, but I just wanted to make sure the word got out early.
 

We order 99.9% of the comics PREVIEWS solicits. Keep that in mind as you read the numbers below; they not only break down our week, but they're also a good representation of the week in comics nationwide.
New Comic Wednesday for the third shipping week of May sees IDW retaking 1st Place with twenty seven titles, just squeaking past DC who comes in 2nd Place with twenty-six titles. Farther back in the pack is Marvel in 3rd Place with twenty titles, Image in 4th Place with seventeen titles and Dynamite bring up the rear in 5th Place with fifteen titles. Indies pick up a bit this week with fifty-six titles. Parsing through those totals finds Dark Horse in 6th Place with fourteen titles while both BOOM! and Valiant in 7th Place with seven titles each. This Wednesday, you'll find an overall total of twenty one different publishers on the racks contributing to this weeks total of 161 comics.
