With
Diamond Comics temporarily no longer accepting new releases from publishers for
distribution due to the Covid-19 outbreak, comic companies have had to take a
look at their own production lines. There's no point in writers and artists
working on titles thay may actually ship until months after their due dates.
Marvel Entertainment announced yesterday they are immediately
"pausing" work on, and the release of, one-third of its currently
scheduled May and June comic book issues. This slow down is expected to affect
15 to 20% of its solicited upcoming titles. This decision is to help spread out
the amount of publishing product over the coming weeks and months. Marvel began
telling creators involved with the suspended titles of this decision on Friday
April 3rd and Marvel will pay all talent for their work to date. When will
they resume publishing the issues not affected by the pause? A Marvel
spokesperson said: "as soon as more information is available, we will outline
our longer-term plans."
