News and notes on future Star Trek TV shows: Star Trek: Discovery season
three will be set 1,000 years after the pre-Kirk era. Series creator and
executive producer Alex Kurtzman appeared on stage in San Diego and confirmed as
much: “There will be things you recognize and don’t recognize…They have big
problems… there will be lots and lots of huge changes in Season 3, there will be
things you recognize, things you don’t recognize. Part of the fun is that we get
honor canon but shake it up hugely.” Supergirl’s David Ajala has joined the cast
of the new season as Cleveland ‘Book’ Booker, a rule-breaker who appears early
on…Kurtzman once again hinted that Captain Pike, Number One, and Spock may get a
show of their own…the Picard spin-off will co-star The Newsroom’s Alison Pill,
Mr. Mercedes’ Harry Treadaway and Takers’ Isa Briones. They join the already
cast Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd and Evan Evagora…Dan and Kevin Hageman
(Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark) are developing a new CG animated Star Trek
series aimed at teens and will air on Nickelodeon. The show would follow a group
of lawless teenagers who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and take it on
adventures while searching for meaning and salvation in the universe.
