Warren Ellis Wanted the WildCATS to Rescue Us-But DC had Other Plans

Warren Ellis was supposed to do a Wildcats series with artists Ramon Villalobos and Tamra Bonvillain. On his newsletter he told readers that the project would be a six-issue limited series with the tagline "Saving the human race from the human race." He also posted part of his pitch: "The Wild Storm is a slow burn, with carefully gridded pages, carrying many plotlines in a novelistic way. Wildcats is none of these things. It will move very fast, it will focus exclusively on the main cast and the people and events they meet, and it will be as explosive and crazy as I can possibly make it. It will be, deliberately, the precise opposite of The Wild Storm. Conceptual breakthrough and the discovery that our universe is bigger than we thought. And the world is stranger than we thought." Wildcats would have been followed by a Zealot solo series. The first issue of Wildcats was supposed to have come out on August 28 but then it was delayed and then cancelled.
