Upgrade’s writer/director Leigh Whannell will write the remake of John Carpenter’s Escape From New York. He is replacing Luther’s Neil Cross and his take on the film will not just remake the original…Deadpool’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have decided not to write the planned sixth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. So if they can’t find a new writer the franchise may end…rumors notwithstanding there is no Alien TV series in the works. One was to have come from Ridley Scott and that would have run on Hulu. An animated show is still possible…James Cameron says he is trying to help director Neill Blomkamp get his proposed direct sequel to Aliens back up and running.
