 To
celebrate the 50th anniversary of her creation Vampirella will get an all-new
ongoing series from Christopher Priest and Ergün Gündüz. Fans got a look at what
they had in store in Vampirella #0, which was out on Free Comic Book Day. The
series will launch in July. Priest says he will include things seen in previous
series but include new elements as well in the series. The FCBD issue takes
place around the time of #8 and introduced Katie, Victory, Benny the Witch, and
Stan the Rat as part of the supporting cast for this run. Vampirella will find
herself on Earth in the first issue and try to understand why she is here and
what her purpose is. She wants a normal life but her very presence on Earth
makes that impossible. During his run we will not see Vampirella fight just
demons, vampires and the devil but villains who assume what they want from just
looking at her and the way she looks. And Priest will push the fact that she
isn’t really a vampire but someone who has the same abilities but none of the
weaknesses. The first issue will feature her long-time villain Von Kreist.
Eventually we will see her mother Lilith and other members of her rogues’
gallery. |
