Studios’ current series Faithless from Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet
actually began as a young adult story but developed into an erotic thriller.
Editor Sierra Hahn and Azzarello have known each other since 2005 but never
worked together before so when they talked about doing a book the fact that he
had never done a YA book before set them off on a path. The book changed
according to Azzarello because, "It became really apparent that I can't write
for a specific audience. I just write. So at one point I had to say, 'I'm just
going to do this the way I'd normally do it.'" The story came first, and it
became a question of how we push it. And we decided to push it more into
erotica. Actually, I think it was better as Young Adult. I'm not kidding." And
so the story of Faith, who is a young woman discovering just who she is became
an erotic thriller with horror elements. Those elements lead to Faith sleeping
with Poppy, who may be a demon or something else. |
