58-year-old Malenko (real name Dean Simon) is part of a famous wrestling family
that includes his father, Boris, and brother, Joe. He held many secondary and
Tag Team titles in his 20+ year career and Malenko began working behind the
scenes with WWE after his retirement from in-ring competition in 2001. He is the
second producer to go since Arn Anderson left the company after he let Alicia
Fox wrestle while drunk at a house show. Dean Malenko has been was confirmed for
Starrcast II, which takes place Memorial Day Weekend in Las Vegas. And in a
related note Robert Evans quit WWE creative during Hall of Fame. He took a
massive amount of heat after writing a line letting Bret Hart’s Hall of Fame
speech where Hart thanked Vince McMahon for giving him and Jim Neidhart their
break together. Everyone was told to never mention Vince’s name in any speech
even though it was in the script. Evans decided to quit instead of being fired. |
