During
the press tour for Alita: Battle Angel, producer Jon Landau gave multiple
updates on how James Cameron’s four sequels to Avatar we're going. The second
and third film in the series will be released in 2020 and 2021 while the fourth
and fifth ones will be out in 2023 and 2024. Shooting on the first two is
happening right now and the last two will start production at a later date. The
motion capture work was done late last year for the second and third films and
the actors are shooting the live-action portions in New Zealand. Landau revealed
that Sopranos’ Edie Falco will play General Ardmore, the head of the RDA forces.
The scripts for all four are done and that’s what they were waiting for before
shooting any footage. All four films will take place on Pandora to make the
films different from other science fiction films. So with each film we will meet
a new clan living on different regions of the planet. There were rumors that the
films were going to be called Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer,
Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa but Cameron says the
titles are legitimate but not the final names. |
