Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada's
Painkiller Jane is back and she has the DC character Monolith coming with her.
In the planned OGN Painkiller Jane: Trust the Universe which is currently
raising funds on Kickstarter, Palmiotti and Juan Santacruz will bring the two
together to investigate the abduction of numerous children. The Monolith was
created in 2004 by Palmiotti and co-writer Justin Gray for a DC ongoing that
ended with the 12th issue. In 2013 the duo got the rights back and published a
trade containing the entire run of the series. The OGN will contain a reprint of
a story by Palmiotti, Steve Mannion and Paul Mounts called Monster. In the
Jane/Monolith story the two will find themselves looking for the same people and
decide to work together. The person who is behind the kidnappings is a man named
Leo Pavel and Palmiotti says this will not be the last time we will see him. The
idea is for Palmiotti and his wife Amanda Conner to take all the characters they
own and try to build up their own universe. Using Monolith reveals that
supernatural beings also exist in Jane’s universe and fan reaction will
determine who else can be included. Palmiotti and Quesada have been talking
about bringing back Ash as well but that’s a long process so we have to wait a
while for that to happen. Palmiotti’s next project is the anthology book Sex and
Violence 3 and two creator-owned series. He is working behind the scenes on the
Painkiller Jane movie that will star Dark Phoenix’s Jessica Chastain while
directors look at the script. |
