Alex
Kurtzman, the man in charge of the Star Trek franchise on CBS All Access told EW
the still-untitled Jean-Luc Picard series will not be like Star Trek: Discovery
at all. He says the show will be real world in nature. The writers’ room has
more than eight episodes written for a planned ten episode season. The setting
of the show will be twenty years after Star Trek: Nemesis and will reveal what
Picard has been up to during that time. The cast of the show includes Heroes’
Santiago Cabrera and Lethal Weapon’s Michelle Hurd. Cabrera will play a thief
who will serve as Picard’s pilot for a mission and Hurd will play Alana, an
analytical former intelligence officer with considerable skills even with a
long-term substance abuse problem. The rest of the cast will include: a female
pilot with a bounty on her head, a positronic brain specialist terrified of
space travel, a holographic crewman, a Romulan martial artist extremely devoted
to Picard and a young woman who is smart, agile but socially inept and immature.
Jonathan Frakes will direct at least one episode of the series. |
