McFarlane’s long planned new Spawn film will actually happen in 2019. He has
been talking about it for damn near forever and finally finished working on the
script. The original Spawn movie came out in 1997 and some still have a warm
feeling about it. This film is coming by way of Jason Blum and his Blumhouse
Productions with Jamie Foxx in the lead and Jeremy Renner as Detective Sam
Williams. So it will have a harder more horror feel to it. 2019 will also be
when McFarlane returns as writer/artist with #301. When #300 comes out it will
tie Cerebus as the longest-running independent American comic book.
