A follower recently asked about a bunch of books promised from
Mark Millar’s Millarworld/Netflix that have never been seen or mentioned since.
A book with Jae Lee was announced before the deal never panned out according to
Lee which ended up costing him money since all the artists cashed in on the
$30-50 million buyout. The Netflix deal didn’t include Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl or
Kingsman so Millar owns them but cannot write them. Wanted was co-owned by Top
Cow so its status is unclear. Chrononauts: Future Shock with Sean Murphy was
never published and since Murphy is now writing his own projects it will never
happen. Huck with Rafael Albuquerque was an 18 issue mini-series that would have
been told in six-issue arcs over three years but Albuquerque is drawing Millar’s
Prodigy. Jupiter’s Legacy/Jupiter’s Circle was to be followed by Jupiter’s
Requiem for 2018 and the year has come and gone. Super Crooks: The Bounty Hunter
and Superior 2 with Leinil Francis Yu were talked about but never published.
Empress 2 with Stuart Immonen was supposed to start after Immonen’s Marvel
contract ended. There was an untitled Millar/Bryan Hitch title promised for the
winter of 2015 but hasn’t been mentioned since. American Jesus: Messiah was
announced for 2017 with Peter Gross but never happened. Millar was writing
Starlight 2 for Goran Parlov to draw and Millar was halfway through the script
last year. Netflix has announced comic book trademark registration for Starcourt,
Starbeam and Starcrusher. Nemesis Returns with Steve McNiven was promised for
2012, then 2013 and has fallen off the face of the Earth. We will never get the
last two issues of War Heroes. And there was a planned project with Bill
Sienkiewicz that has faded into limbo. |
