Movie Wrap Up Finally Happening Thanks to Tax
Incentives |
The planned TV movie that would wrap up the story of
Deadwood seems to be finally happening. Production on the project is expected to
begin in the fall. The David Milch script is in and is currently out to
directors. Deadline has been suggesting the film would focus on the town burning
(which actually happened in September 1879) and
saloon impresario Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) fleeing the town by barge. Timothy
Olyphant had suggested that the film wouldn’t happen due to scheduling issues
but HBO has already gotten a $4.2 million California tax incentive. That means
production has to start within six months of getting the credit and so Deadwood
should start filming by the beginning of October. |
