In
a long Facebook post Mike Netzer accused Neal Adams of stealing Ms. Mystic, a
character Adams developed for Pacific Comics and later published for his
Continuity Comics imprint. Netzer (previously known as Mike Nasser) claims that
he and Adams had created Ms. Mystic for DC Comics in 1977, but DC never
published the book. Netzer then disappeared from the industry for a while and
during that break Adams was invited to create a series for Pacific Comics, as
long as the book was something that only he created. Even though Adams did
invite him to work at Continuity Comics, Netzer said Adams never gave him credit
for Ms. Mystic. Adams says that when he was asked to create an original
creator-owned book he came up with Ms. Mystic and asked the then Mike Nasser to
work on the book. Adams also said he never offered Ms. Mystic to DC but Netzer
tried to sell the character to DC and was paid some money anyway since DC
thought Adams was working on the book. Netzer even created a character called
Starchilde, who looked just like Ms. Mystic. Adams has asserted that Netzer has lied
to a lot of people and on more than one occasion tried to enter his studio
unannounced and has even threatened his family. |
