SNYDER PUTS THE PEDAL TO THE METAL

A Dark Nights Metal is Changing Up Everything in the DCU

Dark Nights: Metal #2 kicked the whole storyline into high gear shipped and things have gotten even crazier since that issue. Scott Snyder’s work on Batman with the Court of Owls and Barbatos was shown to be connected with Tim Seeley’s Nightwing run which will make him a major star of the Gotham Resistance crossover. The issue introduced Baby Darkseid into the mix something that Snyder wanted to do once he learned what Geoff Johns was planning with Darkseid War. We saw the squad of cannibal Robins introduced as The Batman Who Laughs henchmen. Snyder also used the issue to tease future plans for Hawkman and the Outsiders. The issue raised a question from fans about Barbatos who some believe is Grant Morrison's Hyper-Adapter that Darkseid sent back in time. During Morrison’s run the Hyper-Adapter was what Darkseid sent back to chase Bruce Wayne up through time but Snyder isn’t ready to say if they are one in the same or just a coincidence. Future issues will explore the connection between the Wayne family and earlier incarnations of Hawkman. That connection will be filled out in #3 and the one-shot Batman Lost which has art from Doug Mahnke, Yanick Paquette and Jorge Jimenez. The one-shot will give artist Greg Capullo a short break but will be included in the trade of Metal.
