Brian Michael Bendis writes quite a few series for Marvel so let’s catch up on
what he has planned for all of them. In the case of Invincible Iron Man we will
see Ironheart take on the returning Lucia von Bardas and her trying to take over
Latveria since Victor Von Doom is now the Infamous Iron Man. And Victor’s
attempts at being a hero in Infamous have him taking on the evil Reed Richards,
known as the Maker as he deals with his now undead mother Cynthia von Doom.
Victor has Ben Grimm looking closely at him under the orders of S.H.I.E.L.D.
since they can’t figure out how he can just decide to call himself Iron Man
because he wanted to. Bendis is adding Johnny Storm to the mix to make things
even more complicated. And on top of that Victor is starting to get utopian
visions. Bendis’ Jessica Jones had her uncover one of the Marvel U’s darkest
secrets and in the process drive a major wedge between herself and her husband,
Luke Cage. In the current arc Jessica is trying to keep former S.H.I.E.L.D.
director Maria Hill alive. The arc has introduced a new crime lord named
Raindrop Lilley who makes things happen in the shadows. Bendis will bring in
Typhoid Mary, Night Nurse and Danny Rand eventually. Luke will return and Matt
Murdock is already there. All of those heroes are going to be part of the new
Defenders ongoing. We got a hint of what the book will be about on Free Comic
Book Day when we saw Diamondback return to attack our heroes as he tries to
become the major crime boss of New York. He will be doing so and in turn will
set off a gang war between his gang and the Black Cat’s. This will be the reason
the Defenders will be formed. The book will include Old Man Logan, Miles
Morales, Eva Bell, Elektra, Blade, Paladin, Night Nurse and the Punisher. This
follows the concept of the original series in which the team membership was
fluid but the main characters were always there. And on that note some members
of the original team will show up having a problem with their name being taken.
