 The
late Dave Cockrum’s Futurians are back. Deadpool’s co-creator Rob Liefeld has
worked out a deal to relaunch the property in an exclusive publishing
arrangement that includes television, film and print media. He made the deal
with Clifford Meth, who represents the Cockrum family and the Estate of Dave
Cockrum. Cockrum created The Futurians back in 1983 and published one volume
with Marvel Comics before going creator-owned and shipping three issues through
Lodestone Comics. Liefeld has been trying to get his hands on the property for
years. He approached Cockrum in the mid 90’s but was turned down. Meth had
brought them back in 2014 when he raised over $6,000 through a Kickstarter
campaign. That year the 22-page story The Futurians Return shipped. The new
title is expected to ship from Image in the fall. |
