GSP WAS NEVER GOING TO FACE MCGREGOR Posted: 050917
There were multiple options for Georges St-Pierre’s comeback fight according to UFC President Dana White but he was never going to fight Conor McGregor. GSP will fight UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping later this year. It will be the first time he has fought since November 2013. White says a fight with McGregor wasn’t going to happen because GSP isn’t in the same weight class. GSP could fight at 155 pounds but fighting at the 185 pound level made more sense. No one knows when McGregor is going to fight again anyway since he is on hiatus and teasing a fight with boxer Floyd Mayweather. If that doesn’t happen then McGregor was to have fought the winner of the UFC 209 interim lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson that never happened.
