SCORSESE GOES NETFLIX Posted: 050517
With the failure of Silence still in the air Martin Scorsese’s next film will be The Irishman. The film is going to be released by Paramount Pictures but internationally it is likely to run on Netflix. There is some confusion about the deal since STX Entertainment had already bought all non-U.S. distribution rights to the film in a $50 million deal at Cannes last year. So a deal is going to have to be worked out before anything is shot. The budget for the Robert De Niro starring film is at $125 million due to the amount of visual effects work needed to make De Niro look much younger in the film. The story is about Frank Sheeran, who led a double life as a hit man for the mob. One of his targets was Jimmy Hoffa who will be played by Harvey Keitel. The other members of the cast include Al Pacino, Bobby Cannavale and Joe Pesci.
