TNT Going Into Production to Bring Carr's Novel to TV Weekly

Caleb Carr’s The Alienist was a huge best seller and now it is going to become a TV series on TNT. The Girl on the Train’s Luke Evans and Captain America’s Daniel Bruhl will play the male leads in the series. Bruhl will play forensic psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and Evans will play reporter John Moore. The story is set in New York City in 1896, a time in which the city had individuals with massive wealth, people living in extreme poverty and the start of a technological boom. The two will be tasked to solve a series of gruesome murders involving boy prostitutes. They will have to work with a young secretary determined to become the first female police detective in New York City. That role will be played by Dakota Fanning, who happens to be the secretary for police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt. Production has already begun and the plan is for the series to debut later this year. TNT has also renewed its Michelle Dockery drama Good Behavior for a second season.
