Rumors suggested that his asthma medication may have caused Brock Lesnar’s
positive tests at UFC 200 but his people asked for tests on an eye medication
and a foot cream that may have causes his positive tests. He requested a delay
from the Nevada State Athletic Commission because testing of the creams takes
longer than most tests but the NSAC denied the request. One problem is that
neither medication is listed on the pre-UFC 200 medical questionnaire. Lesnar
did admit he was taking multivitamins, creatine and protein powder but not the
eye medication or the foot cream. The NSAC has suspended him for a year and
fined him $250,000. His fight with Mark Hunt is now considered a no contest. The
$250,000 fine is 10 percent of Lesnar's $2.5 million purse which is lower than
most fines. The suspension will be recognized by all of the US athletic
commissions and in states where wrestlers have to be licensed Lesnar cannot work
in those states until July 2017. He may still be sanctioned by the USDA but the
suspensions would be concurrent. During the same hearing Nate Diaz was fined
$50,000 and ordered to do 50 hours of community service work for his involvement
in a bottle throwing incident at a Las Vegas press conference before his fight
with Conor McGregor. Jon Jones was also suspended for a year for a violation of
the UFC anti-doping program. Jones wasn’t fined because his failure happened
before his cancelled fight with Daniel Cormier. |
